Halloween Poster

I created this Halloween poster for the purpose of supporting the spirit of halloween. The design elements I chose are making the color of the poster dark enough so that you can see most of the tree, which makes the moon in the background appear to be glowing. I wanted the upper part of the tree and the grave stones to be visible  but not bright enough so that everything is visible. I put the text on the right-hand side of the poster because it's out of the way of the rest of the picture and not overlapping a lot of the tree or gravestones. The font is orange in the Curlz MT which gives it a very prominent "spooky, but friendly" feeling that the first pagan celebrators of Halloween represent. The font is easy to read and properly placed to where it does not interfere with the picture. I learned how to use a mask and how to use the tracing tool.

Pollution Ad

For this advertisement project, I used bold letters and regular letter to not only add contrast to the overall design, but also to create emphasis and show order of importance. I created an art brush which scattered my water droplets. I borrowed a picture of a glass of water to emphasize the pollution that is in our water and allow the reader to visualize the real effect pollution has on our every day lives. I used different alignment for different letters to allow the more important letters to be emphasized and focused on.

Halloween Text

This project helped me to become familiar with the free distort effect. Another one of the new techniques I learned was adding an inner glow to the letters. I also learned how to freely distort objects in order to add a 3D effect.

Lyric Typography

For my lyric i chose Birds by chef'special (a link to the lyrics are at the bottom). The bird is representative of what the lyrics are saying and i drew many notes around him, but not coming from him, because he is refraining from his natural instinct to sing, even though it is in his nature. This quote symbolizes the perspective of an objective observer who does not interfere directly in our lives, but who has seen things which he has not spoken of. In a way, this bird can be compared to the idea of god, because this bird and god resemble the same ubiquitous but silent presence. The word "talking" is bolded and enlarged because talking is a very verbal word. These words are inside of the bird because it makes the picture of the bird fit in to the typographic art.

The hardest step for me on this project was creating the fur. The easiest stop was typing the letters that I needed for this project.

Color Theory Worksheet

printscreen edit of my color theory worksheet

One Word Art

To create this one word art i used a font which i felt best represented the feeling of being wet. Then i changed the word with the represented font i chose by using the direct selection tool and add anchor point with the pen tool to create a water droplet effect on various parts of the art. I then used the pathfinder tool to connect each of the letters to make the kerning between the letters seem fluid.

Lyric Typography

http://www.sweetslyrics.com/909731.Chef'%20Special%20-%20Birds.html

For my project i used the song Birds by Chef' Special. For this project i drew a bird and made him into a silhouette. I then typed out a lyric from this song and used the size changing tool and the selection tool combined with a numerous different fonts to create a work of typography.
