Repeated Pattern

This was the default pattern and then i did my custom pattern

I made this pattern out of a star which i offset the path for about 4 times, and then i made a pattern, using the hexagon tool. I then made an artboard which contained a portion of my pattern and saved for web and then with my pattern i drew and made an entire full artboard full of my pattern which i have pasted on this document.

Business Card

I integrated my logo into a business card design wherein the contents match the mood and similar color scheme of my logo. The Business card has a bit of fancy flair in the upper part but in the bottom part, it contains the serious information i perfectly placed using rulers. The font in the bottom matches the font design that i created from borrowing parts of the letters from the actual logo.

Personal Logo

My Personal logo took a large amount of time and brainstorming to complete. My design consists of lines which are placed on a sphere. The lines make letters which are obscure but draw the viewer in. The lines make the letters B and backwards D which stands for Bard Designs (the name of my company). This is just a basic logo so i didn't add an outer glow; also i would create an effect which would make the lines look like they are spilling out luminous blue light from cracks in the blue lines in the more specialized logo. I think the contrast of the Blue and white compliment each other creating an aesthetically pleasing logo.

Halloween Poster

I created this Halloween poster for the purpose of supporting the spirit of halloween. The design elements I chose are making the color of the poster dark enough so that you can see most of the tree, which makes the moon in the background appear to be glowing. I wanted the upper part of the tree and the grave stones to be visible  but not bright enough so that everything is visible. I put the text on the right-hand side of the poster because it's out of the way of the rest of the picture and not overlapping a lot of the tree or gravestones. The font is orange in the Curlz MT which gives it a very prominent "spooky, but friendly" feeling that the first pagan celebrators of Halloween represent. The font is easy to read and properly placed to where it does not interfere with the picture. I learned how to use a mask and how to use the tracing tool.

Pollution Ad

For this advertisement project, I used bold letters and regular letter to not only add contrast to the overall design, but also to create emphasis and show order of importance. I created an art brush which scattered my water droplets. I borrowed a picture of a glass of water to emphasize the pollution that is in our water and allow the reader to visualize the real effect pollution has on our every day lives. I used different alignment for different letters to allow the more important letters to be emphasized and focused on.

Halloween Text

This project helped me to become familiar with the free distort effect. Another one of the new techniques I learned was adding an inner glow to the letters. I also learned how to freely distort objects in order to add a 3D effect.

Lyric Typography

For my lyric i chose Birds by chef'special (a link to the lyrics are at the bottom). The bird is representative of what the lyrics are saying and i drew many notes around him, but not coming from him, because he is refraining from his natural instinct to sing, even though it is in his nature. This quote symbolizes the perspective of an objective observer who does not interfere directly in our lives, but who has seen things which he has not spoken of. In a way, this bird can be compared to the idea of god, because this bird and god resemble the same ubiquitous but silent presence. The word "talking" is bolded and enlarged because talking is a very verbal word. These words are inside of the bird because it makes the picture of the bird fit in to the typographic art.

woof tutorial

The hardest step for me on this project was creating the fur. The easiest stop was typing the letters that I needed for this project.

printscreen edit of my color theory worksheet

One Word Art

To create this one word art i used a font which i felt best represented the feeling of being wet. Then i changed the word with the represented font i chose by using the direct selection tool and add anchor point with the pen tool to create a water droplet effect on various parts of the art. I then used the pathfinder tool to connect each of the letters to make the kerning between the letters seem fluid.

Lyric Typography

http://www.sweetslyrics.com/909731.Chef'%20Special%20-%20Birds.html

For my project i used the song Birds by Chef' Special. For this project i drew a bird and made him into a silhouette. I then typed out a lyric from this song and used the size changing tool and the selection tool combined with a numerous different fonts to create a work of typography.

Typography Applied (late)

I completed the typography applied practice which was located on the internet. I learned about kerning and Metric vs. optical, i learned how to apply roman hanging punctuation. I became familiar with the glyphs panel and how to access it. Hyphens and dashes are indications of overflow as well as a good tool to use for typography. i learned how to place text on a path by using the type on path tool or by using the regular text tool and get close to the path. Involving typing on a path i learned many variations of different paths as well as how to limit and control where the text goes on the path. Area type is a particular variation of type associated with path's except the type is contained within the path. Creating columns of text can be useful for ad's and it is something i am now familiar with. Text flow occurs when there is not enough space in the allotted type box and it is limiting it. You can use text flow by using the direct selection tool and clicking on the little red plus sign to the right of the text-flow situation. I can scale any object/text/picture by going to object-> transform -> scale. This activity was a good lesson on some basic skills of adobe illustrator.

Typographic art - "TYPO"

I changed and sliced the fonts. I used the direct selection tool and the pathfinder tool to create these letters and then i used radial gradient tool to create the background.

Quote-Revised

I used Microsoft Sans serif font and adjusted it to different sizes as well as moved it around to create a famous quote by an unknown literary genius. The tool that i appreciated the most in my quote was the dragging of letter's anchors with the direct selection tool. Without this, i believe my art would be much more bland and uninteresting

Glyph Monster

Glyph Monster

I used many characters from the glyph's panel, a selective font, resizing tool and selection tool to arrange the letters into a functional and apparent character.
